[Vegetarianslimming] Re: Rainbow diet

Up to each of us to work out our own way.

I am not prescribing my diet for anyone else.

Hmm I think a small amount of dairy is reasonable (especially for women), another of these "just don't go overboard" things

I don't believe that eating cheese is going to help any diet.

Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn has called cheese, "liquid meat."

It is such a calorically dense food.  There is no reason why someone who is trying to create a calorie deficit to lose weight would eat ANY cheese or dairy let alone follow a diet calling for cheese consumption.

Just, of course, my $.02

I am making up my own diets now. I did a purple week, eating as much purple food as possible, then a blue week, but of course green is easy. It is only blue that is really difficult.

I am only going to try it for 6 weeks and then think of another gimmick.

I'm doing a green week. At least it's easier than blue, I was getting tired of blue cheese and blue berries.

As I've said before, it depends on what illnesses and/or disabilities you had beforehand, not just caused by weight problem.

But people generally seem to assume that just because they are healthy, other people's ill health is somehow their own fault.

Re: [Vegetarianslimming] Re: Exercise

Bananas and IBProphen are good for taking care of gym aches and pains. Stretching on the off days, taking a gentle yoga class, will surely help work that lactic acid do that your muscles don't tighten and/or cramp.
Imagine how good you'll feel after a few weeks. Also, make sure you are pushing yourself to the right limit-the fine line between easy and difficult. If you are pushing too hard, it could hurt you in the long run.
Best of luck! I'm heading to the gym today. Ran yesterday and my calves are soooo tight. I stretched them all through the night and hope my Hubby gives me a leg massage tonight :)

[Vegetarianslimming] Hmmm interesting week!

My weight is all over the show at the moment, but my official weigh in today had me staying the same, having tracked my food for the last week it seems that I really don't eat enough over the weekend and that is when my weight goes up - I really need to knuckle down and get this sussed (oh and I had pain killers at the tail end of last week and that piles the weight on as well *sigh*)

Yes, you are right....nothing happens without exercise, Marty.
I'm on that as well. I am a walker and I love my bicycle so I am glad the
weather is breaking. I did read an article that even 30 minutes is soooo
beneficial. I believe that because ironically, I've made myself take at least
that much time- even if 10, 10, 10 throughout the day.

I'm also now commuting which stinks because it robs my time. (I am a fulltime
student and worker)so time is a commodity.

Lynn (with a long way to go)

Re: [Vegetarianslimming] Re: soy-belly fat?

Vickie, The reports that Asian women getting less breast cancer due to consuming
soy may be from before soy was generically modifier. Because it's been proven to
cause breast cancer in Americans. (men & woman) The health store by my house
won't even sell any soy of any kind. But I believe that some of us are just
predisposed to cancer more that others.

I think perhaps when dealing with the issue of soy, most particularly ones that
are more processed, that moderation really needs to be the key.

I know there are a lot of reports that Asian women get less breast cancer due to
consuming it, but there are also a lot of reports of it slowing down thyroid
function ( see any books or articles by Mary Shoman ).

Eat it if you like it, but perhaps not in massive doses or even daily.
